How To Overcome Laziness In The Morning

For some of us, mornings are the worst period of the day. Most of the time, I need more than 1 hour to get out of bed and finish my morning routines.

Lazy mornings were part of my everyday life until I decided to make a couple of changes that were quite effective and helped me overcome morning laziness.

There are many aspects you need to target when overcoming morning laziness. Let’s start with the basics.

What causes laziness in the morning?

Here are some of the most common triggers of laziness in the morning:

  • An unhealthy sleeping routine
  • Not being physically active
  • Not having a morning schedule
  • Dehydration
  • Lack of meaningful things to do

Laziness during the mornings is usually caused by dehydration, an unhealthy sleeping routine, not being physically active. Apart from these things, not having any kind of schedule in the mornings can also lead to higher levels of laziness.

It’s also really crucial to have a meaningful task that is actually worth doing so early in the day. Most of the people that are lazy in the mornings, usually have no plans or goals to finish up for that time of the day. In other words they don’t care that much.

How to overcome laziness during the mornings?

Lazy mornings were my worst nightmare. They destroyed my productivity and I was wasting half of my day doing nothing. Everything changed when I used these methods that greatly decreased my laziness during the mornings.

1. Create a morning routine

Since I created a morning routine, my mornings are a lot more organized and productive. Here is how my morning routine looks like:

Try to recreate a similar schedule and you will see how your morning will become 40% more productive and you will feel less lazy as a result.

2. Stretch yourself when you wake up

Stretching when you wake up feels so good because during your sleep your muscles were paralyzed to prevent sleepwalking and further injuries.

When your muscles are paralyzed for more than 6 hours, it’s completely natural to feel lazy. If you want to accelerate the process of waking your muscles, stretching is a good way to go.

After stretching you will instantly feel better and ready to conquer the obstacles for that day.

3. Drink Water

Drinking water is crucial for fighting your fatigue which is directly correlated to sleepiness and feeling lazy. Aside from these benefits, drinking enough water helps you regulate your blood pressure and improves brain functionality.

People that struggle with low blood pressure have hard time waking up and being active during the mornings.

Pro tip: You can also take a cold shower to restart your mind and give a signal to your body to wake up.

4. Get Your Morning Coffee

One of the top benefits of this popular beverage is that it can increase your energy levels and make you feel less tired. The perfect compliment to every morning routine.

Drinking coffee improves your levels of productivity in the morning really quickly.

Another thing we should mention is that too much coffee can backfire and do just the opposite. One cup in the morning is enough to reduce your laziness.

5. Sleep at least 6-8 hours a day

According to research that involved 1000 people, sleeping less than 8 hours results with less productivity. Having an adequate amount of sleeping hours is crucial for feeling great during the mornings.

Oversleeping can also cause the same effects as sleeping less than 5 hours a day. Regulated sleep schedule is probably the best way to overcome laziness during the mornings.

6. Use Morning Face Masks

If you like to use products for your face, you can use one that has essential oils that activate your senses, vitamins, and refreshing tones for your skin.

Refresh yourself during the morning hours and suddenly you won’t feel that lazy anymore. This will also boost your confidence since it makes your skin prettier.

7. Exercise

The University of Glasgow published a study where they found that exercising is directly connected to high productivity levels. You already know that 30 minutes of exercising is enough for a day, but if you haven’t got time to do 30 minutes, 10 minutes is better than nothing.

Don’t be discouraged if some days you can’t make it to 30 minutes. I want you to have this in mind when going through a rough period during the mornings.

8. Eat Your Breakfast

Low levels of energy can cause feelings of laziness. From a scientific standing point, 2 million years ago, laziness was considered a survival instinct so that people preserve their energy and avoid starving to death.

When you are hungry, it is completely normal to feel lazy and unmotivated. Prepare yourself a nice breakfast and start your day with a full stomach.
